Olaru's journey in professional tennis reached a significant milestone when she competed in the WTA Tour singles final at the 2009 Gastein Ladies, where she faced Andrea Petkovic but fell short in straight sets.

Before her professional success, Olaru was a standout junior player. She showcased her talent by finishing as the runner-up in both junior singles and doubles at the two thousand five French Open. The following year, she achieved a notable victory by winning the US Open doubles title alongside her compatriot Mihaela Buzărnescu.
