Rana Bahadur Shah, born on May twenty-fifth, seventeen seventy-five, ascended to the throne of Nepal following the death of his father, King Pratap Singh Shah. His reign was marked by significant political maneuvering and territorial expansion.
Initially, Rana Bahadur ruled under the regency of his mother, Queen Rajendra Rajya Lakshmi Devi, who passed away on July thirteenth, seventeen eighty-five due to tuberculosis. Following her death, his uncle, Bahadur Shah, took over the regency, guiding the young king during a tumultuous period.
Under Rana Bahadur's leadership, the kingdom of Nepal expanded its borders through conquests, notably incorporating the Garhwal and Kumaon regions, which are now part of modern-day India. However, his reign was not without strife; he ultimately imprisoned his uncle Bahadur Shah, who met his demise while incarcerated.
