Rashad Khalifa

Rashad Khalifa, born on November nineteenth, nineteen thirty-five, was an influential Egyptian-American biochemist and computer scientist. He dedicated his life to the study and promotion of the Quran, founding the United Submitters International (USI), an organization that advocates for the practice of 'Quran, the Whole Quran, and Nothing But the Quran.' Khalifa's mission was to eliminate what he perceived as corruptions in Islam introduced through hadith and sunnah, emphasizing a return to the Quran as the sole source of Islamic belief and practice.

In his later years, Khalifa introduced the concept of a Quran code, famously known as The Number 19, which he believed revealed deeper truths within the text. His translations of the Quran reflected his evolving views on faith, as he began to prefer the terms 'Submission' and 'Submitter' over the traditional Arabic terms 'Islam' and 'Muslim.' This shift was evident in his publications and his notable nineteen eighty-nine translation of the Quran.

Despite his contributions, Khalifa faced significant opposition from the broader Muslim community due to his self-declared role as a divine messenger and his claims of communication with the angel Gabriel. His controversial views and interpretations led to a tumultuous relationship with other Muslims, culminating in his tragic death on January thirty-first, nineteen ninety, when he was found stabbed inside the Mosque of Tucson, Arizona, which he had established.
