Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Rashid Ramzi

Rashid Ramzi, born on July 17, 1980, in Safi, Morocco, is a distinguished middle-distance runner who has made significant contributions to athletics, particularly for Bahrain. Competing primarily in the 800 metres and 1500 metres, Ramzi's athletic journey began in Morocco before he transferred to Bahrain, where he quickly rose to prominence in the Asian athletics scene.

His career highlights include winning gold medals at the Asian Athletics Championships and the 2002 Asian Games. Ramzi set an Asian indoor record in the 800 metres, earning a silver medal at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships, marking his first global achievement. He also represented Bahrain at the 2004 Athens Olympics, showcasing his talent on an international stage.

In 2005, Ramzi reached the pinnacle of his career by becoming the first athlete to win both the 800 m and 1500 m titles at the World Championships in Athletics. Although he faced challenges in retaining his titles at the 2007 World Championships, he still secured a silver medal in the 1500 m event.

His crowning achievement came at the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he won Bahrain's first-ever Olympic gold medal in the 1500 m. However, this victory was marred by controversy when he was later stripped of the medal due to a doping violation involving the banned substance CERA, resulting in a two-year suspension from the sport.
