Ravi Shankar Prasad

Ravi Shankar Prasad, born on August 30, 1954, is a prominent Indian politician and lawyer known for his significant contributions to the field of electronics and information technology. He served as the first Minister of Electronics and Information Technology from 2016 to 2019 and again from 2019 to 2021. A dedicated member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Prasad has been a Member of Parliament since two thousand, initially representing the Rajya Sabha from two thousand to two thousand nineteen and currently serving in the Lok Sabha.

Throughout his political career, Prasad has held various ministerial positions, showcasing his versatility and commitment to public service. As Minister of State, he contributed to the ministries of Coal, Law and Justice, and Information and Broadcasting during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government. Later, under Narendra Modi's leadership, he took on the roles of Cabinet Minister for Law and Justice and Communications, further solidifying his influence in Indian politics.

His tenure as Union Minister was marked by notable achievements, including the repeal of one thousand five hundred outdated laws, the management of litigation concerning the purchase of Rafale fighter planes, and the digitization of fifteen thousand trial courts.
