Ravi Shankar (spiritual leader)

Ravi Shankar, born on May thirteenth, nineteen fifty-six, is a prominent Indian guru and spiritual leader, widely recognized by the honorifics Sri Sri and Gurudev. His spiritual journey began in the mid-1970s when he apprenticed under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation. This foundational experience paved the way for him to establish the Art of Living Foundation in nineteen eighty-one.

Through the Art of Living Foundation, Shankar has dedicated his life to promoting meditation, yoga, and stress-management techniques. One of his significant contributions is the development of Sudarshan Kriya, a unique breathing technique that has become a cornerstone of the foundation's programs, helping countless individuals achieve mental clarity and emotional well-being.

Beyond his teachings, Ravi Shankar has played a vital role in international peace mediation efforts, notably participating in the Colombian peace process and addressing the Ayodhya dispute in India.
