Ray Mabus

Raymond Edwin Mabus Jr., born on October 11, 1948, is a distinguished American politician and lawyer known for his extensive service in various high-profile roles. A member of the Democratic Party, Mabus made significant contributions to the United States as the seventy-fifth Secretary of the Navy from 2009 to 2017, where he focused on modernizing the Navy and addressing critical issues such as energy efficiency and climate change.

Before his tenure as Secretary of the Navy, Mabus held several important positions in Mississippi's government. He served as the State Auditor from nineteen eighty-four to nineteen eighty-eight, showcasing his commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency. Following this role, he became the sixtieth governor of Mississippi, serving from nineteen eighty-eight to nineteen ninety-two, where he implemented various reforms aimed at improving education and economic development.
