Ray Stevenson

Ray Stevenson, born on May 25, 1964, was a distinguished British actor celebrated for his compelling performances in both film and television. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the fierce legionary Titus Pullo in the critically acclaimed BBC/HBO series Rome, which aired from 2005 to 2007. Stevenson's versatility allowed him to embody various characters, including two iconic roles from Marvel Comics: Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, in Punisher: War Zone and Volstagg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In addition to his work in superhero films, Stevenson showcased his talent in notable cinematic roles such as Dagonet in King Arthur (2004), mobster Danny Greene in Kill the Irishman (2011), and Porthos in The Three Musketeers, also released in 2011. His portrayal of the villainous Governor-General Scott Buxton in the 2022 blockbuster RRR further solidified his status as a formidable actor.

Stevenson's television career was equally impressive, featuring memorable performances as Ukrainian mobster Isaak Sirko in the seventh season of Dexter, for which he received a Saturn Award nomination. He also captivated audiences as Blackbeard in Black Sails, Gar Saxon in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Othere in Vikings, and Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka.

In his personal life, Stevenson was married to English actress Ruth Gemmell for eight years before remarrying Italian anthropologist Elisabetta Caraccia. Together, they welcomed three sons, adding to the richness of his life beyond the screen.
