Raymond Daveluy

Raymond Daveluy, born on December twenty-third, nineteen twenty-six, was a distinguished Canadian composer, organist, and music educator. His contributions to the world of music were profound, particularly through his extensive body of work for solo organ, which showcased his exceptional talent and creativity.

Throughout his career, which spanned from nineteen forty-six to the nineteen nineties, Daveluy was an active international recitalist and concert performer. His performances captivated audiences around the globe, establishing him as a prominent figure in the music community.

In addition to his performance career, Daveluy held several significant church positions in Montreal. He served as the organist for St-Jean-Baptiste Church from nineteen forty-six to nineteen fifty-one, followed by Immaculée-Conception Church until nineteen fifty-four, and finally St-Sixte Church from nineteen fifty-four to nineteen fifty-nine.

His dedication to music and the arts was recognized in nineteen eighty when he was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada, a testament to his influence and contributions. Daveluy was also married to the talented pianist Hilda Metcalfe, further intertwining his life with the world of music.
