Raymond Rock

Raymond Rock, born on October first, nineteen twenty-two, was a notable Canadian politician and businessman. He began his political career as a member of the Liberal Party, representing the riding of Jacques-Cartier—Lasalle after being elected in the nineteen sixty-two federal election. Later, he served as the representative for the riding of Lachine, where he made significant contributions to his community.

In a dramatic political shift, Rock crossed the floor in nineteen seventy-two to join the Progressive Conservatives. This decision came after he received a communique from the Liberal Party stating that no anglophones in Quebec should be employed by the Federal Government, regardless of their bilingualism. Unfortunately, his new affiliation did not lead to electoral success, as he was defeated in the same year.

Beyond his political endeavors, Rock was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve, serving on HMCS Portage from nineteen forty-two to nineteen forty-five. He also had a successful career as a businessman, owning a hardware store, and held the position of alderman in Lachine, Quebec, during two separate terms from nineteen fifty-one to nineteen fifty-five and nineteen fifty-seven to nineteen sixty-three. Additionally, he served as President of the Lachine Chamber of Commerce.

Raymond Rock was born to parents of Polish descent, John Rock and Helena Pietzik. He was married to Theresa Kudla, and together they raised two children, Allan Eric Rock and Kenneth Lester Rock. Rock passed away in January twenty sixteen at the age of ninety-three, leaving behind a legacy of public service and community involvement.
