Răzvan Raț, born on May 26, 1981, is a distinguished Romanian former professional footballer who made a significant impact as a left-back. His career began at Rapid București, where he achieved remarkable success, securing two national titles, one national cup, and one supercup between 1998 and 2003.

In 2003, Raț took a bold step by moving to Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. Over a decade, he became a key player for the club, amassing an impressive collection of fifteen domestic titles and one UEFA Cup. His exceptional performances earned him recognition, and in 2009, he was a runner-up for the Romanian Footballer of the Year award.

Raț's international career with the Romania national team began in 2002, and he proudly represented his country in two UEFA European Championships. He is celebrated as the fourth-most capped Romanian international, reaching the milestone of one hundred appearances in October 2014.

After a successful playing career that included stints at West Ham United, Rayo Vallecano, PAOK, and ACS Poli Timișoara, Raț retired in 2018. He currently serves as a board member for the Serie A club Genoa, continuing to contribute to the sport he loves.
