Rebecca Cheptegei

Rebecca Cheptegei, born on February twenty-second, nineteen ninety-one, was a remarkable Ugandan long-distance and marathon runner. She made her mark in the world of athletics as a national record holder in marathon running and a former world champion in mountain running. Her dedication and talent propelled her to represent Uganda at numerous prestigious events, including the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and the World Athletics Championships.

Throughout her career, Cheptegei showcased her exceptional skills on the global stage, competing in various championships since two thousand ten. Her participation in the women's marathon at the twenty twenty-four Summer Olympics in Paris was a testament to her enduring spirit and commitment to the sport.

Tragically, Rebecca's life was cut short in September twenty twenty-four when she was killed by her former partner, Dickson Ndiema Marangach. The incident, which occurred over a land dispute in Kenya, shocked the athletics community and highlighted the serious issues surrounding domestic violence.
