Rebecca Kadaga, born on May twenty-four, nineteen fifty-six, is a prominent Ugandan lawyer and politician. Currently, she serves as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and the Minister for East African Community Affairs, playing a vital role in the Cabinet of Uganda.
Her political journey is marked by her historic tenure as the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, a position she held from May nineteen, two thousand eleven, until May twenty-one, two thousand twenty-one. Kadaga made history as the first woman to be elected as Deputy Speaker and later as Speaker, succeeding Edward Ssekandi, who served from two thousand one to two thousand eleven.
In addition to her ministerial roles, Kadaga has been a dedicated Member of Parliament for the Kamuli District Women's Constituency in the Busoga sub-region since nineteen eighty-nine.
