Rebecca Marino

Rebecca Marino, born on December 16, 1990, is a distinguished Canadian professional tennis player known for her remarkable achievements on the court. In July 2011, she reached her career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 38, a testament to her skill and dedication to the sport. Her talent was recognized by Tennis Canada, which awarded her the prestigious Female Player of the Year title in both 2010 and 2011.

In late February 2013, Marino made the significant decision to take an indefinite break from competitive tennis. During this time, she pursued her passion for education by studying English literature at the University of British Columbia. Additionally, she embraced a new athletic challenge as a member of the university's rowing team and became a certified Club Pro 1 coach at the UBC Tennis Centre.

After a hiatus from the sport, Marino announced her intention to return to the professional circuit in October 2017. However, her comeback faced delays due to ITF administrative regulations. Finally, she was eligible to compete again at the end of January 2018, and she marked her return with a triumphant victory, winning the title at a fifteen thousand dollar tournament in Antalya, Turkey.
