Lemelin is particularly celebrated for his pivotal role in the 1988 playoffs, where he led the Boston Bruins to a historic victory over the Montreal Canadiens. This triumph marked the first time the Bruins had defeated their long-time rivals in a playoff series since nineteen forty-three, ending a remarkable stretch of forty-five years and eighteen series.
