Rémi Garde

Rémi Garde, born on April third, nineteen sixty-six, is a distinguished French former professional footballer and coach. He is best known for his tenure as the head coach of Montreal Impact in Major League Soccer. Garde's playing career was primarily spent as a defender and defensive midfielder, with Lyon being his first club where he achieved notable success, including winning the French Division 2 title in the nineteen eighty-eight to eighty-nine season.

In nineteen ninety-three, Garde transferred to Strasbourg, where he made a significant impact by reaching the Coupe de France final and securing the UEFA Intertoto Cup in his second season. His career took a pivotal turn in nineteen ninety-six when he joined Arsenal, contributing to the team's triumph in the nineteen ninety-seven to ninety-eight FA Premier League before an injury forced his retirement just a year later. Garde also represented the France national team, participating in the UEFA Euro nineteen ninety-two.

After hanging up his boots, Garde transitioned into coaching, initially serving as an assistant manager at Lyon. He later ascended to the managerial role in two thousand eleven, leading the team to victory in the Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions the following year. However, he departed from Lyon in two thousand fourteen due to personal reasons.

In November two thousand fifteen, Garde took the reins at Aston Villa but left after five months. His journey continued in November two thousand seventeen when he was appointed head coach of Montreal Impact, a position he held until his dismissal in August two thousand nineteen.
