Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Renate Boy

Renate Boy, born on January twenty-fourth, nineteen thirty-nine, is a distinguished former German shot putter who made history in nineteen sixty-one by becoming the first German woman to throw over seventeen meters, achieving a remarkable distance of seventeen point eighteen meters.

Throughout her athletic career, Boy represented the United Team of Germany at the nineteen sixty and nineteen sixty-four Olympics, finishing sixth and second, respectively. In nineteen sixty-eight, she competed for East Germany and secured a fifth-place finish. Her prowess was further demonstrated at the European Championships, where she earned a silver medal in nineteen sixty-two and placed fifth in nineteen sixty-nine.

Born in Pillau, East Prussia, now known as Baltiysk in Russia, Boy's early life was marked by her family's relocation during World War II, first to Thuringia and then to Rügen. Before her illustrious career in shot put, she was an enthusiastic handball player and worked as a goods dispatcher, later taking a position at a fish factory in Rostock.

In nineteen sixty-four, she set a new indoor world record with her throw of seventeen point eighteen meters and claimed multiple East German titles from nineteen sixty-one to nineteen sixty-five and in nineteen sixty-seven. In nineteen sixty-six, she married Lutz Boy, an East German wrestler, and continued to compete under her married name at the nineteen sixty-eight Summer Olympics.
