Throughout his career, Salvatori collaborated with some of Italy's most esteemed directors, including Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini, and Vittorio De Sica. In 1960, while filming the iconic movie Rocco and His Brothers, he met the talented French actress Annie Girardot. The couple married on January 6, 1962, and welcomed a daughter named Giulia. Although they later separated, they remained married until his passing.
