René Pomerleau

René Pomerleau, born on April 27, 1904, was a distinguished mycologist and plant pathologist renowned for his expertise in fungi and lichens. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from Laval University, followed by a Master of Science from McGill University. He furthered his studies at the prestigious Sorbonne, solidifying his reputation in the field of mycology.

Throughout his career, Pomerleau earned recognition as the 'Father of mycology in Canada,' a title that reflects his pioneering contributions to plant pathology. In 1972, he was honored with an honorary doctorate from Sir George Williams University, which later became Concordia University, acknowledging his significant impact on academia and research.
