Reuben Kosgei

Reuben Seroney Kosgei, born on August 2, 1979, in Kapcherop, Kenya, is a distinguished middle and long-distance athlete renowned for his exceptional prowess in the 3000 m steeplechase. At the young age of twenty-one, he etched his name in Olympic history by clinching the gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Games, achieving a remarkable time of eight minutes and twenty-one point forty-three seconds.

His athletic journey continued to flourish as he represented Kenya at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, where he secured a bronze medal in the steeplechase event. Kosgei ventured into marathon running, making his debut at the 2009 Vienna Marathon, although he did not finish. However, he showcased his talent by finishing second at the 2009 Florence Marathon.

A frequent visitor to Australia, Kosgei's achievements include winning the 2009 Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon with a time of sixty-four minutes and eighteen seconds. He returned in 2010 to earn a commendable third place in Perth's City to Surf Marathon. His success continued in 2011, where he triumphed in the Perth City to Surf 12 km event, the Bridge to Brisbane fun run, and the Adelaide City-Bay fun run. Notably, he finished second in the 2015 Adelaide City-Bay fun run.

As of 2013, Kosgei expressed his intention to make Australia his home, further solidifying his connection to the country through his athletic endeavors.
