Richard Aldington

Richard Aldington, born on July eighth, nineteen ninety-two, was a prominent English writer and poet whose literary journey spanned over fifty years. An early associate of the Imagist movement, he made significant contributions to poetry, literary criticism, fiction, essays, anthologies, biographies, translations, and introductions, culminating in an impressive total of one hundred forty-three separate titles. His prolific output also included reviews of more than one thousand three hundred fifty books and hundreds of articles, alongside an extensive correspondence of approximately eight thousand letters that have been discovered since his passing.

His biography of the Duke of Wellington, published in nineteen forty-six, earned him the prestigious James Tait Black Memorial Prize, further solidifying his reputation in the literary world.

Throughout his life, Aldington was married to the poet Hilda Doolittle, known by her initials H.D., from nineteen thirteen until their separation in nineteen thirty-eight. His literary circle included influential figures such as T. S. Eliot, D. H. Lawrence, Ezra Pound, W. B. Yeats, Lawrence Durrell, and C. P. Snow. He was a staunch advocate for H.D., championing her as a leading voice of the Imagist movement and playing a crucial role in bringing her work to international prominence.
