Richard Baawobr

Richard Baawobr, born on June twenty-first, nineteen fifty-nine, was a distinguished Ghanaian Catholic prelate who dedicated his life to the service of the Church. He served as the Bishop of Wa from two thousand sixteen until his untimely passing in two thousand twenty-two. His journey in the clergy was marked by a deep commitment to his faith and community.

A member of the Missionaries of Africa, also known as the White Fathers, Baawobr's ministry took him across various countries, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, and Tanzania. His experiences abroad enriched his perspective and prepared him for his eventual return to his homeland.

In recognition of his contributions to the Church, Pope Francis elevated him to the rank of cardinal on August twenty-seventh, two thousand twenty-two. This honor came just months before his death, underscoring the impact he had made in his role as a bishop and leader within the Catholic community.
