Richard Carapaz

Richard Carapaz, born on May 29, 1993, is an accomplished Ecuadorian professional road racing cyclist, currently competing for the UCI WorldTeam EF Education–EasyPost. His remarkable journey in cycling has made him a prominent figure in the sport, particularly noted for his historic achievements.

In 2019, Carapaz made headlines by winning the Giro d'Italia, a prestigious Grand Tour event, thus becoming the first Ecuadorian rider to claim victory in this challenging race. This milestone not only showcased his exceptional talent but also placed Ecuador on the global cycling map.

Further solidifying his legacy, Carapaz achieved a monumental feat in July 2021 when he secured the gold medal in the road race at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
