Richardis

Saint Richardis, also known as Richgard, was a prominent figure in the Carolingian Empire, born around the year eight hundred forty. As the wife of Charles the Fat, she held the esteemed title of empress, yet her life was marked by both devotion and adversity.

Renowned for her piety, Richardis became the first abbess of Andlau, where she exemplified a model of Christian devotion and just rule. Her commitment to her faith and her community left a lasting impact, even after her repudiation by her husband.

Despite the challenges she faced, Richardis's legacy endured, culminating in her canonization in the year one thousand forty-nine. Her story is one of resilience, faith, and the enduring power of devotion.
