Richeza of Lotharingia, born in the year nine hundred ninety-five, was a prominent figure in the Ezzonen dynasty, known for her role as the queen consort of Poland. Her marriage to Mieszko II Lambert was strategically arranged to fortify the political alliance between her husband and her uncle, Emperor Otto III. This union was significant in the context of the power dynamics of the time.

However, the tides of fortune shifted dramatically when Mieszko was deposed in the year one thousand thirty-one. Following this upheaval, Richeza returned to Germany, where she either divorced or separated from her husband, marking a pivotal turn in her life.

With the death of her brother, Duke Otto II of Swabia, and the subsequent extinction of the male line of her family, Richeza found solace in a life of devotion. She embraced the monastic life, becoming a nun, and dedicated herself to preserving the Ezzonen heritage.
