Rickie Lambert

Rickie Lambert, born on February 16, 1982, is an English former professional footballer who has transitioned into a role as an Academy Youth Development Coach at Wigan Athletic. Known for his impressive stature and physical style of play, Lambert drew comparisons to the legendary Matt Le Tissier, particularly for his goal-scoring prowess and exceptional penalty record.

Lambert's football journey began at Blackpool, following an early setback when he was released by Liverpool as a youth. His career took him through the Football League, where he played for clubs such as Macclesfield Town, Stockport County, Rochdale, and Bristol Rovers. In 2009, he made a significant move to Southampton for a transfer fee exceeding one million pounds, where he quickly established himself as a key player.

During his time at Southampton, Lambert became the club's top scorer, helping them achieve promotion to the Championship from League One in 2011 and subsequently to the Premier League the following season. Over his tenure with the team, he netted an impressive total of 117 goals across all competitions. After a season back at Liverpool, he had stints at West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City before announcing his retirement in October 2017.

Lambert's international career was highlighted by his call-up to the England national team on August 8, 2013. He made an unforgettable debut by scoring with his very first touch in a friendly match against Scotland at Wembley Stadium.
