Rima Hassan, born on April twenty-eighth, nineteen ninety-two, is a prominent French jurist and politician of Palestinian and Kurdish descent. Her journey began in the Neirab refugee camp near Aleppo, Syria, where she was born stateless. At the age of nine, she and her family relocated to France, eventually settling in Niort. After attaining French nationality upon reaching adulthood, Rima pursued higher education, earning a master's degree in international law from the esteemed Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
In two thousand nineteen, Rima took a significant step in her advocacy by founding the Refugee Camps Observatory, a non-governmental organization dedicated to the study and protection of refugee camps around the globe. Her commitment to human rights and social justice has been a driving force in her career, reflecting her deep-rooted passion for defending the rights of marginalized communities.
In two thousand twenty-three, Rima further expanded her activism by establishing the Action Palestine France collective, aiming to raise awareness and support for Palestinian issues. That same year, she joined La France Insoumise, a political movement, to contest the upcoming two thousand twenty-four European Parliament election on Manon Aubry's list. Her dedication and hard work culminated in her election to the European Parliament on June ninth, two thousand twenty-four, marking a significant milestone in her political career.
