Schroeder's most significant achievement came during the 1962 United States Grand Prix held on October seventh. Competing against some of the best in the sport, he finished in tenth place, seven laps behind the legendary race winner Jim Clark. Despite not scoring any championship points, his participation in this prestigious event marked a highlight in his racing journey.

After his racing career, Rob settled in Medina, Wisconsin, where he continued to nurture his love for engineering. His life, however, took a turn as he faced health challenges in his later years. Rob Schroeder passed away in a Dallas hospital in 2011 after battling a short period of ill health and heart problems.
