Robert Abajyan, born on November sixteenth, nineteen ninety-six, was a dedicated junior sergeant in the Republic of Artsakh Defense Army. His commitment to his country and his bravery in the face of adversity earned him the highest honorary title of the self-declared Republic of Artsakh, the "Hero of Artsakh," awarded posthumously.
During the Armenian–Azerbaijani clashes of two thousand sixteen, Abajyan displayed extraordinary valor. On the night of April first to second, he found himself in a dire situation, facing special forces groups of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. Despite being outnumbered, he fought valiantly for several hours, showcasing his unwavering spirit and determination.
In a moment of tactical brilliance, Abajyan gestured as if to surrender, only to reveal his true intentions. He pulled out a grenade and made the ultimate sacrifice, detonating it to take out the approaching Azerbaijani soldiers along with himself. His actions that night have left a lasting legacy of heroism and selflessness.
