Robert Crosbie

Robert Crosbie, born on January tenth, eighteen forty-nine, in Montreal, Lower Canada, was a prominent theosophist known for his significant contributions to the Theosophical movement. In nineteen hundred and two, he relocated to Lomaland, Point Loma, California, where he played a pivotal role in establishing a thriving theosophical community.

In nineteen hundred and eight, Crosbie published a thought-provoking letter addressed to all open-minded Theosophists, sharing his insights on the Theosophical Society. The following year, in February nineteen hundred and nine, he founded the United Lodge of Theosophists (ULT) in Los Angeles. This innovative organization was unique in its lack of presidents or hierarchical structures, emphasizing the universality of theosophy.

The ULT's Declaration articulates a vision of inclusivity, stating that it recognizes as Theosophists all individuals engaged in the true service of humanity, regardless of race, creed, sex, condition, or organization. Much of the language in this declaration is derived from the writings of influential figures such as William Q. Judge and H.P. Blavatsky, whose teachings Crosbie sought to disseminate.
