Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Robert Lighthizer

Robert Lighthizer, born on October eleventh, nineteen forty-seven, is a distinguished American attorney and government official. He served as the U.S. Trade Representative during the Trump administration from two thousand seventeen to two thousand twenty-one, playing a pivotal role in shaping American trade policy.

After earning his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in nineteen seventy-three, Lighthizer began his career at the prestigious firm of Covington and Burling in Washington, D.C. He transitioned to public service in nineteen seventy-eight, taking on the role of chief minority counsel and later staff director and chief of staff for the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance under Chairman Bob Dole.

In nineteen eighty-three, Lighthizer was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Deputy U.S. Trade Representative under President Ronald Reagan. He later joined Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in nineteen eighty-five, where he led the firm's international trade group as a partner.

On January third, two thousand seventeen, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Lighthizer as his U.S. Trade Representative, a position he officially assumed after Senate confirmation on May eleventh, two thousand seventeen, with a vote of eighty-two to fourteen. Lighthizer was instrumental in the administration's renegotiation of NAFTA, and many of the trade policies he developed have been maintained and, in some cases, extended by the Biden administration.
