Robert MacNeil

Robert Breckenridge Ware MacNeil, born on January 19, 1931, was a distinguished Canadian-American journalist, writer, and television news anchor. Known affectionately as Robin MacNeil, he made significant contributions to the field of journalism throughout his career.

In 1975, MacNeil partnered with Jim Lehrer to launch the groundbreaking public television news program, The Robert MacNeil Report. This innovative show set a new standard for news broadcasting and earned acclaim for its in-depth reporting and thoughtful analysis.

MacNeil co-anchored the program until 1995, during which time it evolved into the MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, a staple of PBS programming that continues to inform audiences today as PBS News Hour. His work has left an indelible mark on the landscape of American journalism.
