Robert Stangland

Robert Stangland, born on October fifth, eighteen eighty-one in Kendall, New York, was a remarkable American athlete who made his mark in the early twentieth century. He specialized in the long jump and triple jump, showcasing his exceptional talent on the world stage.

At the age of twenty-two, Stangland achieved significant success at the 1904 Summer Olympics, where he earned two bronze medals in athletics. His first medal came in the long jump, where he recorded an impressive jump of six point eighty-eight meters, finishing behind gold medalist Myer Prinstein and silver medalist Daniel Frank.

Stangland's prowess continued in the triple jump, where he secured another bronze medal with a distance of thirteen point three six five meters. Once again, Myer Prinstein claimed the gold, with Fred Englehardt taking the silver medal.

After his athletic career, Stangland graduated from Columbia University in nineteen oh four, where he excelled in football, track and field, and crew. He later transitioned into a successful career as a consulting engineer. Robert Stangland passed away on December fifteenth, nineteen fifty-three, in Nyack, New York.
