Robert Swinhoe

Robert Swinhoe, born on September first, eighteen thirty-six, was a distinguished English diplomat and naturalist whose contributions to the field of biology are noteworthy. His tenure as a consul in Qing-era Taiwan, known to Westerners as Formosa, provided him with a unique vantage point to explore and document the rich biodiversity of East Asia.
