Robert van Voren, born on July twenty-fifth, nineteen fifty-nine, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is a distinguished Dutch political scientist, historian, and opinion journalist. Known for his extensive work in human rights activism, he has made significant contributions to the fields of Soviet and post-Soviet studies.
Currently, van Voren holds the position of professor at Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia, and at Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania. His academic influence extends further as a visiting professor at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, where he shares his expertise with students and scholars alike.
In addition to his academic roles, he serves as the Chief Executive of the international foundation Human Rights in Mental Health-Federation Global Initiative on Psychiatry. Furthermore, he is the Executive Director of the Andrei Sakharov Research Center for Democratic Development at Vytautas Magnus University, where he continues to advocate for democratic principles and human rights.
