Robert Wadlow

Robert Pershing Wadlow, born on February 22, 1918, in Alton, Illinois, was an extraordinary individual known as the Alton Giant and the Giant of Illinois. His remarkable stature made him the tallest person in recorded history, standing at an astonishing height of eight feet eleven point one inches, or two point seventy-two meters. Wadlow's growth was attributed to hypertrophy of his pituitary gland, which led to an abnormally high level of human growth hormone.
