Roberto Dinamite

Carlos Roberto de Oliveira, widely known as Roberto Dinamite, was born on April thirteenth, nineteen fifty-four, in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro. His illustrious career as a forward spanned over two decades, during which he became a legendary figure at Vasco da Gama. Not only did he make the most appearances for the club, but he also holds the record as its all-time top goalscorer.

Roberto's prowess on the field extended beyond club football; he represented Brazil in the nineteen seventy-eight and nineteen eighty-two FIFA World Cups, as well as the nineteen seventy-two Olympic Games. His remarkable scoring ability also made him the leading scorer in both the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and the Campeonato Carioca.

In addition to his football career, Roberto Dinamite ventured into politics, serving as the president of Vasco da Gama from two thousand eight to two thousand fourteen. He was also a Rio de Janeiro state deputy for five consecutive terms, showcasing his commitment to public service.

In recognition of his contributions to football, Vasco da Gama honored him with a statue at São Januário in two thousand twenty-two. Furthermore, in December two thousand twenty-four, the Brazilian Football Confederation established the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A top-scorer award as the 'Roberto Dinamite Trophy', ensuring his legacy will be celebrated for generations to come.
