Roberto Micheletti

Roberto Micheletti, born on August thirteenth, nineteen forty-three, is a notable figure in Honduran politics and entrepreneurship. He rose to prominence as the interim president of Honduras, serving from June twenty-eighth, two thousand nine, to January twenty-seventh, two thousand ten, following a significant political upheaval known as the 2009 Honduran coup d'état.

The coup resulted in the ousting of President Manuel Zelaya by the military, which led to a controversial series of events. Although Zelaya's resignation was initially announced, he quickly refuted it in a conversation with CNN en Español. The military's actions were justified by the coup-plotters, who claimed that the Supreme Court had ordered Zelaya's detention for constitutional violations. Instead of arrest, Zelaya was exiled, paving the way for Micheletti to assume the presidency as the next in line, sworn in by the National Congress shortly thereafter.

Despite his position, Micheletti faced significant challenges, as he was not recognized as the de jure president by any international government or organization. His presidency was marked by political tension and controversy, culminating in the general elections of November two thousand nine, which resulted in the election of Porfirio Lobo Sosa as his successor.

Prior to his presidency, Micheletti had a long-standing career in politics, having served as a deputy in the National Congress since nineteen eighty-two. He was also the president of the National Congress, representing the Liberal Party of Honduras, which has been a significant force in the country's political landscape.
