Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Rod Blagojevich

Rod R. Blagojevich, born on December 10, 1956, is a notable American politician and lawyer who made his mark as the 40th governor of Illinois from 2003 to 2009. A member of the Democratic Party, Blagojevich's political journey began in the Illinois House of Representatives, where he served from 1993 to 1997, before moving on to represent Illinois's 5th congressional district in the U.S. House from 1997 to 2003.

Raised in Chicago, Blagojevich graduated from Northwestern University in 1979 and earned his law degree from Pepperdine University in 1983. He began his career as a criminal prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office during the late 1980s. His legislative career was marked by a focus on law and order policies, which he championed during his time in the state legislature.

In 2002, Blagojevich made history by becoming the first Democrat to win the governorship of Illinois since 1972. His administration was characterized by significant advancements in public education funding, infrastructure development, and criminal justice reforms. He was re-elected in 2006, during which time he successfully passed various healthcare, gun control, and anti-discrimination measures.

However, Blagojevich's tenure was marred by controversy. In December 2008, he was arrested on corruption charges related to an attempt to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama. Following his arrest, he was impeached and removed from office by the Illinois General Assembly. In June 2011, he was convicted and sentenced to fourteen years in federal prison, although his sentence was commuted by President Donald Trump in 2020, and he received a full pardon in 2025.

Blagojevich's connection to Trump extended beyond politics; he was a contestant on Trump's reality show, The Celebrity Apprentice. Since his release, he has publicly supported Trump's presidential campaigns and has identified himself as a 'Trumpocrat'. Notably, he remains the only Illinois governor to have been successfully impeached and removed from office.
