Rod E. Bruinooge, born on May 6, 1973, is a prominent Indigenous Canadian politician, businessman, and filmmaker. He made his mark in Canadian politics when he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Winnipeg South during the 2006 federal election. His tenure included serving as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, as well as the Federal Interlocutor for Métis and Non-Status Indians, roles he held until the fall of 2008.

A member of the Conservative Party of Canada, Bruinooge proudly identifies as an Indigenous Canadian of Métis descent. After a successful political career, he chose to retire from parliament following the 2015 federal election, transitioning into the business world.

In May 2016, Bruinooge took on the role of CEO at Eventride, where he continued to showcase his entrepreneurial spirit. His commitment to Indigenous representation in the film industry was recognized in 2021 when he was appointed as the first Indigenous Film Commissioner for Manitoba. Most recently, in 2024, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Manitoba Research Network, further solidifying his influence in both the business and cultural sectors.
