Rodney Brooks

Rodney Brooks, born on December thirtieth, nineteen fifty-four, is a distinguished Australian roboticist and a prominent figure in the field of artificial intelligence. He has made significant contributions to robotics, particularly through his advocacy for the actionist approach, which emphasizes the importance of behavior in robotic systems.

Brooks served as the Panasonic Professor of Robotics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he also held the position of director at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. His leadership and innovative thinking have shaped the landscape of robotics education and research.

As a pioneer in the industry, Brooks co-founded iRobot, where he played a crucial role as Chief Technical Officer. His entrepreneurial spirit continued with the establishment of Rethink Robotics, formerly known as Heartland Robotics, where he served as Chairman and Chief Technical Officer.
