Roger Allers

Roger Allers, born on June twenty-ninth, nineteen forty-nine, in Rye, New York, was a multifaceted American filmmaker and animator. Raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, his passion for animation ignited after watching Disney's Peter Pan in nineteen fifty-three. He pursued a fine arts degree at Arizona State University before furthering his education in animation at Harvard University.

Allers began his professional journey at Lisberger Studios, contributing to projects like Animalympics in nineteen eighty and Tron in nineteen eighty-two. His career took a significant turn when he joined Disney in nineteen eighty-five as a storyboard artist for Oliver & Company, eventually working on iconic films such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast, where he served as story supervisor.

In nineteen ninety-four, Allers co-directed The Lion King with Rob Minkoff, which became the highest-grossing traditionally animated film of all time. He later directed Open Season in two thousand six and collaborated on the Broadway adaptation of The Lion King, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical. His creative journey continued with The Prophet in two thousand fourteen, showcasing his versatility as a storyteller.

Despite his successes, Allers faced challenges, notably leaving the Kingdom of the Sun project due to creative differences, which was later transformed into The Emperor's New Groove. His contributions to animation and storytelling left an indelible mark on the industry. Roger Allers passed away on January seventeenth, twenty twenty-six, at the age of seventy-six.
