Roger Landry

Roger D. Landry, born on January 26, 1934, in Montreal, was a prominent Canadian businessman whose career spanned several influential roles in the media and public relations sectors. He received his education in Montreal, Paris, and London, which laid the foundation for his diverse professional journey.

Landry began his career at Bell Canada, where he collaborated with the Quebec government to design a mobile telephone network for the Sûreté du Québec. His talents were further recognized when he was appointed assistant director of public relations for Expo 67, eventually becoming the director responsible for welcoming heads of state and distinguished visitors.

In 1970, he established a public relations firm and later took on the role of vice-president of administration at ITT-Rayonnier. His innovative spirit shone through during his tenure as Vice-President of Marketing and Public Affairs for the Montreal Expos, where he played a key role in creating the beloved mascot, Youppi.

From 1980 until 2000, Landry served as the president and publisher of La Presse, one of Montreal's leading newspapers. His literary contributions also include the publication of his first novel, Le Sans tache, in 2002, showcasing his versatility beyond the business realm.
