Roger Teillet

Roger Teillet, born on August twenty-first, nineteen twelve, was a prominent Canadian politician and business manager. He made history in nineteen sixty-three as the first self-identifying Métis member of the Canadian Cabinet, marking a significant milestone in the representation of Indigenous peoples in Canadian politics.

Teillet's political career began in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, where he served as a Liberal-Progressive from nineteen fifty-three to nineteen fifty-nine. His dedication to public service continued as he transitioned to the House of Commons of Canada, representing the Liberal Party from nineteen sixty-two to nineteen sixty-eight.

During his tenure, Teillet held the esteemed position of cabinet minister under Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson. He maintained his influential role even after Pearson's resignation, continuing to serve under Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who succeeded Pearson as the leader of the Liberal Party.
