Rogvolod

Rogvolod, born in the year nine hundred and one, stands as a significant figure in the early history of Eastern Europe. He is recognized as the first chronicled prince of Polotsk, a title that marks the beginning of a lineage that would play a crucial role in the region's development.

His reign lasted until the year nine hundred and seventy-eight, a period during which he established the foundations of his principality. Rogvolod's leadership was characterized by the challenges of the time, including conflicts with neighboring powers.

Tragically, his life came to an end when he and his two sons were killed by Vladimir the Great, the prince of Novgorod. This event not only marked a turning point in the history of Polotsk but also led to the marriage of Vladimir to Rogvolod's daughter, Rogneda, intertwining the fates of these two noble families.
