Roman Josi, born on June first, nineteen ninety, is a distinguished Swiss professional ice hockey player who currently serves as the captain and defenceman for the Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League (NHL). Josi's journey in ice hockey began in Switzerland, where he played for SC Bern from two thousand six to two thousand ten. He made his debut in the National League during the two thousand six–seven season, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the lineup by the following season.
In two thousand eight, at just seventeen years old, Josi was one of only four players in his age group to compete in Switzerland's top division. His talent shone brightly during the two thousand ten NLA playoffs, where he led all defensemen in scoring and tied for fourth overall in goals, contributing significantly to SC Bern's championship victory.
Following his success in Switzerland, Josi joined the Predators' organization for the two thousand ten–eleven season, initially playing with their American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. He quickly became a vital part of the Predators' roster during the two thousand eleven–twelve NHL season, where he began to set and break numerous franchise records.
Josi's accolades include becoming the first Swiss player and the first in Predators' history to win the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league's best defenceman in the two thousand nineteen–twenty season. In twenty twenty-one, he surpassed Mark Streit to become the highest-scoring Swiss-born player in NHL history. By March twenty twenty-three, Josi reached six hundred career points in the NHL, achieving this milestone in his eight hundred twenty-third game and setting a new franchise record for the most forty-assist seasons.
Regarded as one of the finest defencemen of his generation, Josi has also become the second defenseman to lead an active NHL franchise in points, joining the ranks of Ray Bourque. His remarkable career continues to inspire many in the world of ice hockey.
