Roman Toi

Roman Toi, born on June eighteenth, nineteen sixteen, was a distinguished Estonian-Canadian composer, choir conductor, and organist. His musical journey was deeply influenced by the renowned Ralph Vaughan Williams, which shaped his unique style characterized by melodic, lyrical, and melancholic elements.

Throughout his prolific career, Toi made significant contributions to the world of music, composing nine cantatas between nineteen fifty-three and nineteen seventy-seven, alongside three symphonies created in nineteen sixty-nine, nineteen seventy-two, and nineteen seventy-four. His extensive body of work also includes over eighty choral compositions, many of which have become integral to the standard Estonian choral repertoire.
