Ron Kiefel

Ron Kiefel, born on April eleventh, nineteen sixty, is a distinguished former professional road bicycle racer from the United States. Renowned for his remarkable achievements, Kiefel is a seven-time competitor in the prestigious Tour de France and an Olympic bronze medalist, having represented the USA at the 1984 Olympic Games. He earned his medal in the team time trial alongside teammates Roy Knickman, Davis Phinney, and Andy Weaver.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kiefel rode for several prominent American professional teams, including 7-Eleven, Motorola, Coors Light, and Saturn. His notable victories include the Trofeo Laigueglia in nineteen eighty-five and the Tour of Tuscany in nineteen eighty-seven. Kiefel made history as the first American to win a stage in a Grand Tour, achieving this milestone with his victory in stage fifteen of the nineteen eighty-five Giro d'Italia.

In addition to his stage wins, Kiefel claimed the USPRO road championship in nineteen eighty-three, securing titles in both the time trial and team time trial events. He also became the road champion again in nineteen eighty-eight. Beyond his commentary work, Kiefel has made significant contributions to the cycling community as a coach in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and as a former vice president of Wheat Ridge Cyclery. He is also known for promoting races and rides, furthering the sport he loves. In two thousand four, Kiefel was honored with induction into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame. Alongside his wife, Meegan, he once hosted a weekly AM radio show, sharing his passion for cycling with a broader audience.
