Ron Simmons, born on May fifteenth, nineteen fifty-eight, is a distinguished American former professional wrestler and football player. He is celebrated for his remarkable tenures in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he made history as the first African American WCW Champion. Before stepping into the wrestling ring, Simmons showcased his athletic prowess on the football field as a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL), Canadian Football League (CFL), and United States Football League (USFL) during the eighties.

During his college years, Simmons played for the Florida State Seminoles, earning recognition as an All-American. His professional football career included stints with the Cleveland Browns in the NFL, the Ottawa Rough Riders in the CFL, and the Tampa Bay Bandits in the USFL. This diverse athletic background laid the foundation for his transition into professional wrestling.

In the wrestling world, Simmons performed under his real name in WCW and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), while in WWE, he was known by his ring names Faarooq Asaad and Faarooq. His accolades in WCW include being a one-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, making him the first African American to achieve this milestone, a title recognized by WWE as a significant moment in professional wrestling history. Additionally, he held the WCW World Tag Team Championship and the WCW United States Tag Team Championship.

In WWE, Simmons became a prominent figure during the early Attitude Era, capturing the WWF Tag Team Championship three times alongside Bradshaw as part of the Acolytes Protection Agency.
