Ronnie Lane

Ronnie Lane, born on April 1, 1946, was a talented English musician and songwriter, best known as the bassist and co-founder of the iconic rock bands Small Faces and Faces. His musical journey began in 1965 when he teamed up with Steve Marriott to form Small Faces, where they crafted numerous hit singles, including the beloved tracks 'All or Nothing', 'Itchycoo Park', and 'Lazy Sunday'.

After the departure of Marriott in 1968, Lane, along with Ian McLagan and Kenny Jones, welcomed Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood to create Faces. This new ensemble continued the legacy of success, both critically and commercially, solidifying Lane's reputation in the music industry.

In 1973, Lane made the difficult decision to leave Faces and embarked on a solo career, collaborating with various musicians and leading his own bands. However, his life took a challenging turn in 1977 when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Despite the struggles that followed, he received unwavering support from charity projects, friends, former bandmates, and fans.

Lane battled the disease for twenty-one years before passing away in June 1997 at the age of fifty-one. His contributions to music were recognized posthumously when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Lane is remembered not only for his musical legacy but also for his family, leaving behind two children and two stepchildren who carry his name.
